A TV is a device found in most homes. When planning a longer stay abroad or a move, it’s important to ensure it’s transported without shocks or damage. Just like with computer equipment, you need to take proper precautions to make sure your TV arrives safely at its destination.
The best option is to pack your TV (as well as other electronic devices) in its original box. That’s because it’s perfectly fitted to the equipment’s size. The original cardboard box is thick and sturdy enough to carry the TV’s weight without tearing.
If you don’t have the original packaging, choose a suitable box and use styrofoam corner protectors. This is an excellent way to prevent scratches or other damage. Empty spaces inside the box can be filled with old newspapers or styrofoam pieces. Wrapping the entire TV in bubble wrap is also a great idea – there’s a reason it’s so popular for packing fragile items.
You can transport your TV yourself, either to a new home or a self-storage unit, using your own car. However, handle it with the utmost care. Place it either on the back seat or in the trunk in a way that minimizes the risk of tipping over or shaking. The TV screen should face outward – never toward the seat or the floor of the trunk.
If transporting it on a seat, you can secure it with seat belts or use special elastic straps with hooks to keep it in place. Of course, you can also hire a professional moving company to handle the transport – in that case, you can be confident everything will go smoothly.
Don’t forget to properly label the box containing the TV. A simple “Fragile” or “Handle with Care” sticker will alert movers to treat it gently.
